Cyclist struck on Southside has life-threatening injuries

RICHMOND, Va. – Authorities said a cyclist struck by a car Saturday evening on Richmond's Southside has life-threatening injuries.

Officers were called to the 2400 block of Commerce Road near Ruffin Road some time before 8 p.m.

A CBS 6 crew at the scene around 9:30 reported that Commerce was blocked off in both directions as police investigated.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was listed in stable condition at last check.

Police said the driver stopped and remained at the scene.

No charges are expected, officials said.
