RICHMOND, Va. – A man has died after going into cardiac arrest after he was stuck by a branch that fell from a tree in Byrd Park, a source tells CBS 6.

Sources says the 22-year-old man was walking along a path when a branch from a tree struck him, pinning him underneath.

Captain Earl Dyer with Richmond Fire confirms crews responded to the incident near the 1700 block of Pumphouse Drive at 4:50 p.m.

Capt. Dyer says due to the storm and debris, it was difficult to reach the victim and he was in cardiac arrest when emergency crews got to him.
