RICHMOND, Va. — An all-clear was given at Ninth and Main streets at about 11 a.m. Monday after the bomb squad inspected two backpacks and a bag left unattended near the Pocahontas Building.

“Streets near the Pocahontas Building were closed for about 90 minutes Monday morning after three suspicious packages were found at Ninth and Main streets. The packages were found to contain personal items, and the streets were reopened by about 11 a.m.,” Capitol Police explained via Twitter.

Earlier Monday, workers in the Pocahontas Building, along the 900 block of East Main Street in downtown Richmond, were ordered to shelter in place while police investigated the “suspicious packages.”

The Pocahontas Building houses offices for members of the Virginia General Assembly and their staff.

This is a developing story.
