HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — A boy with autism, who made national headlines in 2011 after he went missing for 6 days in a Hanover park, returned to the Hanover Sheriff’s Office Wednesday to say thank you.

Robbie Wood Jr., who was 8 years old at the time, wandered off at North Anna Battlefield Park in Hanover. He went missing for six days as thousands of volunteers worked to help bring him home.

Amazingly, Robbie was found alive by deputies, suffering from hypothermia and dehydration.

Robbie, now 15 years old, returned to the sheriff’s office to say hello, and thank you.

The Hanover Sheriff’s Office says Robbie and his family visits them every year to say thank you.

“Thank you for stopping by Robbie. So great to see you and your family!” the office wrote on Facebook.
