RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Animal Care and Control [RACC] put out an alert on social media Wednesday after a badly injured dog was found and rescued on N. 33rd Street Tuesday morning.

"She was freezing and badly injured from what appears to be multiple [old and new] bite wounds," Richmond Animal Care and Control posted on Facebook. "Officer Jones scooped her up and transported to VVC, where the team was able to stop the hypothermia and safely sedate to begin cleaning her up."

Veterinarians are now working to save the dog's eyes and help her fight infection.

"Please say a little prayer for her and share this picture in an effort to bring any information about this dog to RACC," the agency posted on Facebook. "Someone knows how this happened, someone saw something and that someone can remain anonymous."

Anyone with information was asked to call 804-646-5573. Richmond Animal Care and Control is accepting donations to help offset the cost of the dog's medical needs.

Witnesses can send news tips and information here.
