CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Griswold, an 8-year-old beagle battling lymphoma will spend what could be his last Christmas in a loving home.

The beagle, known for his love of Cheese Whiz, was adopted this weekend at the Richmond Animal League (RAL).

The beagle was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. Officials at RAL said it doesn’t looks like there are any long-term treatment that can help him.

In addition to his battle with Lymphoma, Griswold also suffers from chronic dry eye and is recovering from some skin issues.

His diagnosis is up to a year, which would mean this could be his final Christmas.

Griswold’s story captured the hearts of people across the Commonwealth and the country.

This weekend, a local family opened their heart and their home for Griswold.

Griswold was one of 51 animals at RAL who found new homes this holiday season under their seventh annual Operation Silent Night.

The goal of the holiday adoption event is to ensure that every animal in the shelter has a home for the holidays.

The operation began Friday, December 8 and runs through Friday, December 22.

During the event, fees for all pets will be reduced to $10 thanks to the help of local sponsors and donors.
