CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – Thousands of folks took part in the fifth annual CarMax Tacky Light Run sponsored by Sports Backers on a snowy Saturday evening.

As real and fake snow cascaded from starting line this year, runners dressed as Christmas trees, elves and even holiday packages set off for the 6K (3.72-mile) holiday-themed fun run.

"I was just kind of like, yeah, it's snowing and it's Christmas time and like it usually snows after Christmas," one participant said.

The runners and walkers got to peruse some of the some stunning holiday lights in the gorgeous Walton Park neighborhood.

The race started on Woolridge Road near the Midlothian Mines Park.

There were also contests for the best tacky sweater, brightest dressed and best overall individual or group.

The funds raised from the event support Kids Run RVA, a program sponsored by Sports Backers, whose goal is to promote youth physical activity across our area.
