RICHMOND, Va. – Two men have been arrested after police say a fight inside a vehicle traveling on Powhite Parkway ended with one man dead.
Police said the incident happened around 2:16 a.m. on Monday, December 4.
Officers received a call for a fight in progress in the 6300 block of Powhite Parkway just before Chippenham Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle parked in a parking lot adjacent to the toll booth and discovered an unconscious man lying on the ground outside the vehicle.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Luis G. Gomez-Flores of Petersburg, was transported to a local hospital where died from his injuries.
“It was determined an altercation broke out inside the vehicle causing the driver to pull over,” said a police spokesperson. Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
There is no word what caused the altercation between the three men.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
Rodrigo Martinez-Mendoza, 41, of Petersburg and Javier Rodriguez-Zavala, 22, of North Chesterfield have been arrested and charged with malicious wounding.
Police say additional charges are pending in the case.
