Man killed when truck hit Chesterfield traffic light

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A Disputanta man was killed when his pickup truck crashed into a traffic light pole in Chesterfield. Thomas G. Crump, 78, was headed north along the 12300 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at about noon Monday when he crashed, according to police.

“[The truck] veered across the southbound lanes and struck a traffic signal pole. The impact caused the signal pole to fall,” according to a police spokesperson. “Crump was transported to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.”

The investigation into the crash remained ongoing.
