HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A West End man was arrested and charged for his role in a crash that closed a Henrico elementary school.

Bhim Bahadur Karki, 22, of Citadel Drive, was arrested following Tuesday’s pre-dawn crash on Pemberton Road near Quiocassin Road.

“Officers found a vehicle that struck and severed a utility pole. Karki was located walking in the area and detained,” a Henrico Police spokesperson said. “Further investigation revealed the vehicle involved in the crash was just stolen from the 9300 block of Pavilion Drive and Karki was determined to be the driver.”

Karki was charged with grand larceny, driving under the influence, vandalism, and driving after his license was revoked for an alcohol-related offense.

The crash resulted in a power outage at nearby Pemberton Elementary School.

The school was unable to open to students Tuesday. The school reopened on Wednesday.
