CHETSERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chesterfield Police will hold a press conference Tuesday afternoon where they will announce their new Chief of Police, sources tell CBS 6.
Those sources say the announcement will be made at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Sources tell CBS 6 that the decision is down to a local candidate and a candidate from Florida.
Crime Insider Jon Burkett has confirmed the identity of the new police chief, but CBS 6 is not releasing those details until an official announcement is made.
Earlier this year, Col. Thierry Dupuis announced his retirement, effective September 1. Dupuis, who was appointed chief in 2007, joined the Chesterfield County Police Department as a patrol officer in 1979.
