Richmond Police SUV flipped at Broad Street intersection

RICHMOND, Va. – Police are investigating after a Richmond Police SUV was flipped during a two-vehicle crash near VCU’s Monroe Park Campus Tuesday evening.

The crash happened at the intersection of N. Belvidere and Broad Street.

Police said the crash happened around 5:57 p.m. when an officer was on the way to a call for a person down. That’s when police say the officer’s SUV was struck by another vehicle while attempting to make a left on Belvidere St.

Police said the officer initiated his lights, but the female driver did not see them.

The officer’s SUV was flipped over during the collision. Both the officer, and the driver of the second vehicle are okay.

There has been no charges filed at this time.

Police have not released any additional information about the crash at this time. They said their investigation is ongoing.
