HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – A 9-year-old boy was accidentally shot Tuesday night inside a Sandston home in Henrico County, police confirm.
Police said the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 6100 block of La France Road.
Someone inside the home discharged a weapon and shot a 9-year-old boy in the chest, according to Crime Insider sources.
Sources said the gunshot wound went through his chest and out his back. He is listed in stable condition, according to the those sources.
The gun in question is an AK-47, according to Crime Insider sources.
Police said after the shooting, the family attempted to take the boy to the hospital, but crashed the car in the woods off La France Road. Police said that's when they responded to the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital.
