CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police have identified the driver killed in a two vehicle crash on Courthouse Road, north of Rockwood Park, in Chesterfield County.
The fatal crash happened Thursday around 12:48 p.m. in the 3000 block of Courthouse Road.
Police said a 2006 Toyota Highlander was travelling north on Courthouse Road when the driver ran off the roadway into the median and struck a tree.
“After striking the tree, the Toyota Highlander entered the southbound lanes of Courthouse Road and stuck a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner,” a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said.
The driver of the 4-Runner, Robin Carlson, 55, of Boston, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Highlander and passenger of the 4-runner were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
Lanes on Courthouse Road were closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
