CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- The ramp from Jeff Davis Highway south to Chippenham Parkway south in Chesterfield was closed Tuesday morning due to a crash.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Stephan Vick said the driver of the tractor trailer that overturned on the ramp was charged with reckless driving. The driver's identity has not yet been released.
Images from the scene showed an overturned tractor trailer.
An investigation into what caused the truck to overturn is ongoing.
The trailer was hauling scrap car parts and steel drums that fell onto a nearby grass area, according to a trooper on scene.
He said the driver was able to escape from the wreck without injury and was seen walking around the crash site.
Chesterfield Fire confirmed a hazmat crew cleaned up diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid that spilled from the wreckage.
VDOT was able to reopen the ramp around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
