RICHMOND, Va. — One male died in an overnight shooting in the Carver community adjacent to the Monroe Park campus of Virginia Commonwealth University.
Richmond and VCU Police Departments are investigating a shooting that occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Moore Street.
Officials said a man was found dead on the front porch of a home.
A neighbor said that the home is occupied by about eight young people and that the deceased male was in his 20s and a VCU student.
Police have not released the victim’s name or information about a possible suspect.
Witnesses said they heard people screaming and arguing and then they heard gunshots. A neighbor with three children said they were hiding in fear.
The neighbor said it is a mostly quiet neighborhood but that there is always a lot of activity at that home, and they have heard arguements before.
