HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Crews are working to repair a broken water main on Staples Mill Road in Henrico County. Staples Mill Road between Glenside Drive and Dumbarton Road is closed while the repairs are underway.
Officials first learned of the break near Penick Road right after midnight Monday morning. Water was coming out of the northbound lanes, damaging the road, according to officials.
VDOT shutdown Staples Mill between Glenside and Dumbarton at about 2:30 a.m.
Work to repair the break began at about 5 a.m., and the Henrico County Department of Public Utilities hoped to complete work by 9 p.m.
No water service was expected to be affected, officials said.
VDOT set up detours along Staples Mill Road:
Traffic traveling south on Staples Mill will be detoured around the work zone by way of Glenside, West Broad Street and Dickens Road.
Northbound traffic will be detoured onto Dumbarton, Brook Road and Hilliard Road.
Officers will be on scene Monday helping to direct traffic around the detour.
