RICHMOND, Va. -- Fire officials are on scene investigating an apartment fire that broke out in the city's Fairfield Court neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Units were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 2500 block of Phaup Street around 1:02 p.m. A one-year-old infant was found in the upper portion of the building and was rescued. The child was taken to VCU Medical Center and is expected to be okay.

Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.

Officials say that the entire building has been evacuated and that the fire displaced over a dozen people. The American Red Cross is on scene to assist those who were displaced.
