Petersburg Police nab suspects behind 14 armed robberies

PETERSBURG, Va. —  Petersburg Police Detectives have identified and arrested three offenders in recent days regarding the rash of convenience store robberies that occurred since mid-October.

Starting in October, there were 14 armed robberies at convenience stores throughout the city of Petersburg, with the last on occurring on Dec. 3.

Clarence B. Williams of Petersburg robbed People’s Food Mart at 820 Harding Street on Nov. 10. He was charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Saheef T. Oliphant of Petersburg robbed the BP Gas Station at 1932 E. Washington Street on Nov. 19.  He was charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Vince E. Nicholas of Petersburg robbed five convenience stores between Oct. 26 and Nov. 30.  He robbed the S. Adams Market Place at 620 S. Adams Street twice, the Citgo Gas Station at 2706 S. Crater Rd, The Citgo Gas Station at 3825 S. Crater Rd and the Kwik Mart at 2328 E. Washington Street.  He was charged with five counts of armed robbery, five counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

All three arrestees were incarcerated at Riverside Regional Jail.
