HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Mike Lester said it took someone just a few minutes to steal three guns from his Sandston home.

One of those guns was an AK-47 which he had just purchased two weeks ago.

Lester is in the process of selling his home and wondered how someone got inside to steal a .38 revolver, a 16-gauge shot gun, and the AK-47 with four fully-loaded clips, plus cash from his dresser.

"There's no sign of forced entry,” Lester said. “And when they got in, it seems like they knew where to go, which is crazy because I don't let people into my home."

Police were called and a report taken about the stolen weapons. Neighbors said they saw a man sitting in a car out front, but thought he was a contractor giving an estimate for roof work.

Lester said he hadn't called a contractor and believed someone had been watching his movements to see when he wasn't home.

"One neighbor told me they saw a guy walking down the road with what looked like a guitar case, but that was my AK," he said.

Lester hasn't had much luck when it comes to guns: his gun shop off Williamsburg Road was hit twice before he closed his doors for good.

He's now upset that the criminal element seems to have found out where he lives and is taking aim at his gun stash. So he’s removed his remaining weapons and is storing them somewhere else.

"All I can think is, they had something to pick the lock with,” he said.

Lester is now offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the gun thief.
