RICHMOND, Va. -- Police identified the elderly pedestrian who was fatally struck by a driver traveling east on Hull Street.

A 2001 Hyundai Accent traveling eastbound on Hull Street Road struck a pedestrian as she was walking southbound in the 5200 block of Hull Street Road.

The pedestrian, Betty A. McMillan, 74, of the 5300 block of Hull Street Road, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene, where they took measurements and interviewed witnesses.

Crystal Brady said the scene is all too familiar for her family since her stepfather was fatally struck by a car in the area while trying to cross the road in 2000.

On Wednesday evening Richmond Police responded to the 5200 block of Hull Street Rd. For a pedestrian hit.

That woman was 74-year-old Betty McMillan who lived along Hull Street Rd.

McMillan was pronounced dead on scene.

Neighbors said she was well known in the area and walked Hull Street religiously.

Neighbors said this area has a lot of pedestrians.

"The pedestrian who got hit, they aren't the only people, my stepfather is not the only person," Brady said "There have been numerous people whether they passed away or got injured."

Crystal and others nearby say this is a dangerous area with the high volume of traffic of traffic, as many people try crossing the street.

She hopes this serves as a reminder for pedestrians and drivers to be extra careful.

Officials said no charges have been filed at this time.
