HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- We wanted to help a Henrico couple going through a tough time.

Kristine Kaliebe and Preston Gordon have been caring for their infant son, Knox, around the clock. In September, Kristine gave birth at 28 weeks.

Baby Knox weighed only three pounds at birth, then went into intensive care due to bleeding on his brain.

The day she gave birth, Kristine was admitted to the hospital, her partner Preston, was hospitalized with intussusception, caused by his Crohn's Disease.

Preston had to stay in the hospital for some time and couldn’t start his new job.

He stayed in the hospital along with Baby Knox and Kristine.

She developed health issues related to the birth.

The couple eventually learned from the nurses how to care for Baby Knox at home, so Kristine and Preston can take care of their three other children.

Knox suffered a setback last weekend.

Kristine said they almost lost him twice on Saturday after Knox caught a cold.

Knox is back in the hospital after doctors discovered he has problems with his breathing and he currently on oxygen.

"Thank God he made it. We’re here to sing about it today," Kristine said.

One of their sons recently asked if they would even have Christmas this year. After hearing about their story, CBS 6 Anchor Reba Hollingsworth, surprised the couple with a $500 Visa gift card to help with the Christmas holiday.

Kristine said the extra money will help pay for presents this year.

The CBS 6 Month of Giving is underway. Every day through December, a CBS 6 team member will surprise someone in the community with a random act of kindness. The CBS 6 Month of Giving is possible due to a partnership with Union Bank and Trust.
