24th Annual James River Parade of Lights

Saturday, Dec. 10, 6-9 p.m.

A Parade of decorated boats cruising the James River presented by the James River Advisory Council. The free event also features entertainment at viewing sites. Parking is first come, first served.

Viewing Sites include:

Richmond:  Libby Hill Park, Corner of 28th and East Franklin streets

Entertainment begins at 4:30 p.m. Countdown to boat illumination at 6 p.m.

Free hamburgers and hot dogs, hot chocolate and apple cider. Fire pit and music.

Henrico County:  Osborne Park and Boat Landing, 9530 Osborne Turnpike

Entertainment begins at 4 p.m. Parade viewing 7-7:30 p.m.

Santa, Magician and Juggler Jonathan Austin, bonfire, food concession and music.

Chesterfield County:  Henricus Historical Park

Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. Parade viewing 7:45-8 p.m., Park at Thomas Dale High School, 3626 W. Hundred Road, Chester. FREE shuttle transportation 5-7 p.m.

Fan District Association 54th Annual Holiday House Tour

December 10-11, 1-6 PM

Holiday Homes that Sparkle & Glow  -- Decorated and ready for the Holidays. All built at the turn of the century. Proceeds benefit community grants program. Friday, Dec 9. - Meet at Jefferson Park (Union Hill) at 7:15pm. Stroll towards historic St. Johns Church to join with the Vespers. Grab a candle, and continue to historic Libby Hill Park. Meet Santa and enjoy the spectacular city skyline with 180 degree view.  FREE

Carmax Tacky Light Run, Saturday, Dec. 10,

Court End Christmas Sunday, Dec. 12 – 5pm

A historic ride in the Downtown area with stops at ten historic places. Guests can ride carriages and see several Richmond Historic attractions for free. Those include The Valentine, The White House of the Confederacy, The John Marshall House, The Egyptian Building among others. There will also be tours, the gist shops will be open and performances. Due to the inclement weather forecast, the 2016 Colonial Heights Christmas Parade, originally scheduled for December 6, has been rescheduled for Monday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m.

The night-time parade, an annual event, will proceed along the Boulevard from the Temple Avenue intersection south to the Colonial Heights Courthouse, where the parade will conclude. This year's theme is "Peace on Earth."

All lanes of the Boulevard from Temple Avenue to Hamilton Avenue will be temporarily closed beginning at 6:30 p.m. Pack up the car with blankets and come early for a good viewing spot!
