HENRICO COUNTY, Va. –A family is staying with relatives after an SUV plowed into the side of their home in Henrico County Saturday afternoon.
Henrico Fire spokesman Capt. Taylor Goodman said crews were called for a report of a car into a house in the 11400 block of Sadler Walk Lane at 3:40 p.m.
Goodman said the SUV plowed through an electrical box in the yard before hitting the side of the house.
When the vehicle smashed into the side of the structure, it hit the home’s electrical, gas and water lines.
As a result, officials said the family would be displaced for at least Saturday night.
Neighbors were baffled by the crash.
"It's crazy how, I mean even if you wanted to do something like this, you could not do it,” Salman Lateef, the homeowner's brother, said. "It's still mysterious how the car ended up between two houses with such a small gap in between those two."
But Lateef was thankful things did not turn out worse.
"Normally kids are playing, my own kids are playing here sometimes,” he said. “Thank God no one was hurt. None of the kids were out playing."
