Dinwiddie, Va - Saving their best for the last 2 minutes of the night, Dinwiddie came from behind to knock off Lake Taylor 29-15 in the 4A state quarterfinals.
Bryce Whitt threw for 162 yard and two touchdowns, one to Tye Freeland who also added an 88 yard kickoff return for a score. Freeland's 30 yard TD reception gave the Generals a 22-15 lead late in the 4th.
Lake Taylor drove down inside the Dinwiddie 30 on their final possession, but K'Vaughan Pope picked off the second of his 2 interceptions on the night and returned it 77 yards for a game sealing TD. Pope had 6 catches for 76 yards and added 7.5 tackles on defense.
" We were down and there were times where there were a little sense of worry over there" said Dinwiddie head coach Billy Mills. "But my leaders...my seniors..my captains...step up and pulled everybody together along with my coaching staff. They just finished the game. I'm so proud of them."
The Generals improve to 13-0 on the season and advance to next week's 4A state semifinals. Lake Taylor ends their season at 11-2.
