RICHMOND, Va. -- A suspected drunk driver flipped her car off Jahnke Road in South Richmond, shutting down the road, and knocking out power to hundreds of people.

Just before 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, police were called out for the accident.

A car was flipped over beside a pole on the side of the road.

The woman driving the car was able to get out with only minor injuries, according to police, who said the woman may have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police have not said what charges, if any, the driver may face.

Because of the crash, the eastbound lane of Jahnke Road was shut down.

Power crews said the road will likely be closed until at least 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Dominion Virginia Power came out and shut off the power to about 500 homes in the area to work on repairs.

Power should be restored sometime between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday.

For people who usually drive on Jahnke Road, a detour is set-up. Drivers will make a right onto Hioaks Road, then left on Carnation Street, before getting on Midlothian Turnpike. They can then get off on German School Road and back onto Jahnke Road.
