Man killed in Petersburg; police investigate overnight death

PETERSBURG, Va. -- One man was killed and a second man was hurt in early-morning shootings, according to Petersburg Police.

Investigators are now working to determine whether the shootings were related.

Police initially responded to the 600 block of Morton Avenue, at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, after gunshots were heard in the area.

"Police arrived and found an adult male deceased from a gunshot wound," a Petersburg Police spokesperson said. "At approximately 1:26 a.m., an adult male walked into Southside Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. This male is in stable condition and it is unknown if these two shooting are related."

Police have not yet released the identities of the shooting victims.

The investigation into both shootings remains on-going.
