RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control wants consumers to know that shopping malls and department stores won’t be the only places offering Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals.

And this year, ABC is getting a head start on making “spirits” bright this year, with three-holiday promotions and giveaways leading up to its best sales of the year on Black Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving, and its online cousin, Cyber Monday, Nov. 28.

On Black Friday, all Virginia ABC stores will offer an in-store 10 percent discount off any purchase totaling $50-$74.99, and a 15 percent discount off any in-store purchase totaling $75 or more (pretax, with lottery and gift cards excluded).

The in-store discount applies to any of ABC’s more than 2,600 products, from miniatures to gift sets to top-shelf specialty items. (The sale does not apply to licensee purchases.)

ABC will also offer a Cyber Monday sale on Nov. 28. On that day, customers who order select products online (www.abc.virginia.gov) for pick up at an ABC store will enjoy the same discount—a 10 percent reduction off purchases totaling $50-74.99 (pretax) and a 15 percent discount off purchases totaling $75 (pretax) or more.

More than 200 premium products, including 66 Virginia-made spirits, will be available to order online on Cyber Monday.

For the first time ever, Virginia ABC will launch its holiday campaign with the three following promotions:

  • “Mini Monday,” Nov. 21 — customers will receive a complimentary “mini” (50 mL bottle) of Crown Royal Vanilla Canadian Whisky with any $20 minimum purchase of wine or spirits. This promotion will be available in 250 participating ABC stores while supplies last. (See http://www.abc.virginia.gov for a list of participating stores.)
  • Tasting Tuesday,” Nov. 22 — more than 130 tasting events will be held in Virginia ABC stores across the commonwealth, offering customers a chance to sample products.
  • Virginia Wednesday,” Nov. 23 – ABC has partnered with the Virginia Tourism Corporation to offer an exclusively designed “Virginia is for Lovers” bumper sticker with any in-store purchase of a Virginia-made product.

“We are especially proud to offer our Cyber Monday sale on a select group of Virginia-made and other premium products, thanks to the e-commerce capabilities of our newly redesigned website,” said Virginia ABC Chairman Jeffrey Painter.

Virginia ABC stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but all stores will be open on Black Friday, with many stores observing expanded hours.

A searchable list of Virginia ABC’s 363 stores—including brands and quantities of spirits available at each location— can be found on the agency’s updated website at www.abc.virginia.gov.

“As the holiday season approaches, we urge customers to be especially mindful of the importance of safe and responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages,” said Painter.
