Gun stolen from Trump supporter waving sign on I-95

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. — A Chesterfield teenager was arrested for stealing a gun from a man waving a Donald Trump campaign sign above Interstate 95 on Election Day, according to Colonial Heights Police.

“A citizen, who was waving a campaign sign on E. Ellerslie Avenue at the I-95 overpass, was approached by a subject inquiring about a handgun that the victim was wearing on his side,” a Colonial Heights Police spokesman said. “During the conversation, the suspect forcibly took the victim’s handgun and ran towards Dunlop Village Shopping Center. Within minutes of receiving the call, Colonial Heights Police officers had the suspect in custody and recovered the handgun.”

Azionne Dayshawn Miller, 18, of Chesterfield County, was charged with strong-armed robbery, larceny of a firearm, grand larceny with intent to sell, and resisting arrest.

Miller was booked at Riverside Regional Jail with no bond.

The incident was reported on Election Day, November 8, at about 12:47 p.m.
