Man fighting for his life after Petersburg shooting

PETERSBURG, Va. – A man has been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in Petersburg Wednesday evening.

Police said they received call for a person shot at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the 400 block of St. Matthews Street.

Police said an ambulance was flagged down and the victim was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center. The victim was then transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

There is no information on a suspect at this time. Police are still investigating the shooting and speaking to potential witnesses for more information.
