Woman escapes fire in Richmond’s Northside

RICHMOND -- Fire officials are working to figure out what caused a fire inside an occupied apartment early Tuesday morning.

They say the fire broke out around 2:30 am in the second floor of a building on North Avenue. When they got there, officials say they were able to see smoke coming from the building. They were quickly able to put out the fire.

One person was reportedly inside the apartment when the fire broke out. Fire Officials say she was able to get out of the apartment unharmed.

Richmond officials are still working to figure out what cause the fire in the first place.
