RICHMOND, Va. — Jack Berry has won the 4th voter District in the Richmond mayoral race.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Berry received 54 percent of the vote while Levar Stoney came in second place with 29 percent. Joe Morrissey finished third with 11 percent of the vote.

The 4th voter District is located in Southwest Richmond, south of the James River. It includes areas like Forest Hill Avenue, Jahnke Road and portions of the Chippenham Parkway.

Jack Berry was considered the favorite in District 4 based on pre-election polls.

Pre-election polls showed Morrissey leading the overall mayoral race in four of the nine Districts; 6, 7, 8, and 9. Berry was considered the favorite in Districts 1, 2 and 4. Districts 3 and 5 were considered up for grabs.

In order for a candidate to become Richmond mayor, he or she must win five of the city’s nine districts. If no candidate wins five districts, a runoff election between top voter getters will occur.
