GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — The Goochland Sheriff’s Office issued a crime alert Monday after four homes in the county were broken into recently. In each break in, the home was near Broad Street (Route 250).
“Thieves have broken windows to gain entry, kicked in doors, or have gained entry by unlocked doors or windows,” a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson posted on Facebook. “Some thieves will knock on your door first to see if anyone is home. Once it seems clear, they will make entry. Typically, they are only there a few minutes. If someone answers the door, they will have an excuse for knocking. Some excuses are to ask if you need some work done to your property or they are looking for lost pet. Almost any story they can think of.”
Two of the break-ins happened in the western part of Goochland, one in the central section, and one in eastern Goochland, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office has not released descriptions of the suspect, nor the suspect vehicles.
“Due the possible use of multiple vehicles, we do not want vehicles discounted that do not meet the description,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said. “Same with subject or possible subjects. Anything suspicious please report.”
