Police investigate stabbing at Richmond motel

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Police are investigating a stabbing that happened at a motel in the city's Southside Friday morning, according to the motel's manager.

Officers were seen gathering evidence at the Colony House Motor Lodge at 6414 Midlothian Turnpike around 6 a.m. Friday.

The motel's manager, Paryl Patel, told CBS 6 officers woke her up asking for the key to a room on the second floor explaining there was a reported stabbing.

Police had blocked off a portion of the motel with crime scene tape.

The victim's condition is unknown, and it's unclear if officers have a suspect in custody.
