CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- Chesterfield Police are looking into claims that a toddler may have been abused at her daycare, after the pictures circulated on Facebook.

No charges have been filed, so CBS 6 will not name the daycare or employees.

Multiple people contacted CBS 6 after pictures of a one-year-old girl with scratches and bruises surfaced online.

The girl’s mom told CBS 6 that she believes her daughter sustained injuries at her daycare in Chesterfield. Her daughter is now recovering at VCU Medical Center.

The mother said the daycare owner blamed the injuries on an allergic reaction. She was told the daycare owner gave the girl Benadryl to stop her from crying.

A CBS 6 reporter spoke with the owner's husband off camera and he emphatically denied that his wife or anyone in the home daycare abused the child.

Police confirm they are investigating the event.
