HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Virginia State Police and Hanover County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a driver who sped off after police attempted to pull him over on Interstate 64.

The pursuit began at about 12:30 a.m. Monday when a state police trooper tried to pull over the driver in New Kent County.

The driver eventually led police off Interstate 64 and onto Interstate 295 in Hanover.

The driver exited the interstate and crashed into a mailbox on Lee Davis Road, near Pole Green Road, in Mechanicsville.

Unable to drive on a flat tire, the driver got out of the vehicle and ran.

Police K9 units attempted to find the driver, but so far have not been able to locate him.

Troopers said the car was rented out of Hampton, Virginia.

This is a developing story.
