West End college student found dead in car

BOONE, North Carolina — Police are investigating the weekend death of 21-year-old Savannah Taylor Karten.

Karten, who police said was from Glen Allen and attended Appalachian State University, was found shot to death in the car near the western North Carolina campus, WJHL reported. Her body was found Saturday at about 1 p.m., according to the report.

An initial police investigation uncovered no foul play was suspected in Karten’s death, however police in Boone, North Carolina indicated they were not ruling out any possibilities.
