HENRICO COUNTY, Va. --Family and friends gathered to remember a Henrico County woman found stabbed to death on Thursday.
A vigil for Ava Tucker was held Saturday evening outside the apartment complex where she lived.
Attendees lit candles and released balloons in front of the Vivian Hall Townhomes in Tucker’s honor.
The victim’s mother and sister both delivered heartfelt words to the crowd.
"I told her I couldn't do it. To look at that door,” Tucker’s mother said. “But you know what? God's got reigns on my memory. I'm' not gonna remember that door. You know what I'm gonna remember? I'm gonna remember all these faces. I'm gonna remember all this love. I'm gonna remember all these people and I'm gonna keep going.”
Police said 33-year-old Sheena Wilson was still covered in blood when she walked into the police station Thursday morning and confessed to the murder.
A judge denied Wilson's bond request Friday. She is scheduled to appear be in court in January.
