MONROE, Tenn. — Two former church volunteers are facing multiple counts of statutory rape in Clay County.

Travis and Traci Puckett of Monroe turned themselves in on Thursday, WSMV reported.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says they have tied the couple to multiple sexual offenses involving a teenager who attended the same church as them.

The alleged encounters happened back in 2007. The TBI opened an investigation in 2015.

The Clay County Grand Jury returned indictments against the couple on Monday.

Travis Puckett is charged with nine counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. He is being held on $45,000 bond.

Last month, the TBI charged Travis Puckett with three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure in Overton County.

Traci Puckett is charged with four counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. She is being held on $20,000 bond.
