CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. -- A missing Cumberland County girl has been found safe and sound.

Yarah Atiya Thomas, 6, was last seen getting into a black four-door car after she got off her school bus on Mahan Road Tuesday afternoon, a Cumberland Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.

She was found Wednesday with a family member.

Thomas' mother, Laila Johnson, was taken into custody in connection with a Sunday afternoon shooting. Previously, the sheriff said while Johnson had called her child's school to report she had her daughter, the sheriff would not remove the missing child designation since he could not verify the mother's story.

Johnson will not face any charges from this incident, but was arrested on the outstanding warrants from Farmville

While Johnson has legal custody of Thomas, the child had been staying with grandparents.

This is a developing story.
