RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Police Department rededicated a statue honoring officers killed in the line of duty.
Richmond Police Chief Alfred Durham and Virginia First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe unveiled a new plaque in front of the statue during a ceremony Saturday.
The plaque includes the names of 39 officers who have died in the line of duty between 1869 and 2003.
The police memorial stature, which portrays a police officer holding a child, was relocated to Byrd Park in July.
