RICHMOND, Va. -- The past week had a string of 80° days from Monday through Friday.  Wednesday was the warmest, with spots like Louisa and Williamsburg hitting 90°.

A cold front passed during the day Friday, and this has brought much cooler weather and gusty winds back to Virginia.

After highs in the low to mid 60s Saturday afternoon, overnight lows heading into Sunday morning will drop into the 30s and lower 40s.  The dry air and slight breeze should prevent frost, but isolated patches are possible in the coldest locations.

High temperatures will rebound back into the 70s on Monday, but another cold front will knock high temperatures back into the 60s for the rest of the work-week.  It looks like highs next weekend will be around 70°.  The normal high for this point of October is in the upper 60s.

Some additional fall color is emerging across the Commonwealth, with sections of high color in western Virginia.  Good ingredients for bringing out the colors include sunny days and crisp nights without frost.  The weather for the week ahead will definitely help.blog-3
