On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, Henrico Animal Protection Police received a call from the 3700 Block of Meadow Road for a possible rabies exposure due to a skunk attacking penned domesticated ducks.

Positive test results were received on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016.  The only known contact with the skunk involved the mallard ducks that were in the pen.  There were no additional exposures reported.  This is the same area that produced the county’s first confirmed rabies case for 2016 just two months earlier.  The Health Department has also been notified.
