RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are working to determine if three crimes scenes officers were called to overnight in Richmond were connected.
The first reported crime came in just before 1 a.m. from Confederate Avenue, on Richmond's Northside. Police said officers were involved in a pursuit and the car crashed into a fence at Laburnum and Gloucester, near Linwood Holton Elementary.
Police officials said they searched the area for the driver. It was not clear whether that driver was ever caught.
It was also not made clear why police were pursuing the driver.
A few minutes later, Richmond Police said they got a call for a person shot near 7th and Broad Streets in downtown Richmond.
When police arrived, officers discovered the victim ran there to call the police. The shooting victim said he had been shot somewhere in the area of Jackson Ward or Gilpin Court.
Then, shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday, a Richmond Police officer found several shell casings at the 1100 Block of St. James Street.
Richmond Police said they were looking into the possibility that two or all three scene were connected.
