RICHMOND, Va. -- People living in one Highland Park neighborhood have been dealing with an eyesore that has been in their neighborhood for nearly three months.

Bailey Dabney said mounds of trash have been piling up in an enormous dumpster on Letcher Avenue.

"At first it wasn't a problem,” Dabney said.

However, over the past few months neighbors said the mess is nearly spilling over after contractors gutted a home for renovations.

That's when Dabney noticed people adding their own trash to the overflowing dumpster.

Neighbors, who have been complaining to the property owner over the trash and debris said they get nowhere, so they turned to the CBS 6 Problem Solvers for help.

"No one else would want that in front of their door for such a long time,” said Patricia Humphrey, concerned neighbor.

The dumpster.

The dumpster.

WTVR CBS 6 Reporter Sandra Jones spoke with the homeowner, who confirmed the property was under renovation, but maintained people were illegally dumping material into the dumpster.

Hours after Jones contacted the homeowner, he called the company and had the bin removed.

And neighbors said that is good for the community and the kids that live on the block.

"Thank you so much. I appreciate it because talking to them didn't get it done,” Dabney said.

Humphrey said she was pleased the dumpster was finally removed.
