HandsOn Day volunteers help transform Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. — Volunteers rolled up their sleeves Saturday to work on a number of projects for the 9th annual HandsOn Day in Richmond.

In fact, more than 1300 people completed assignments at a number of community sites between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Teams from WTVR CBS 6 took part in projects for Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden‘s Community Kitchen Garden that included weeding, preparing beds for cold frames and picking sweet potatoes

Familiar faces included Bill Fitzgerald, Zach Daniel, Rob Cardwell, Rob Desir, Antoinette Essa, Mike Stone and Raymond Hawkes.

HandsOn Greater Richmond is a nonprofit that connects more than 11,000 volunteers with organizations for local community service projects throughout the year.
