CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- Police arrested three suspects accused of breaking into several homes in a Chesterfield neighborhood. According to one witness, one of the suspects walked with a cane.

A resident was asleep inside her Chester home off Happy Hill Road, when she was awakened by a loud knock at the door.

"I heard someone banging on the front door and people that know us know we don't use that door.

She said she the stranger limped to the side of her house.

"He started cutting the screen on my window on the deck,” she said.

As the woman was on the phone with 911, she said something triggered the man to stop what he was doing and leave.

She said she watched him walk off with a cane, and another witness saw police surround the man.

Minutes later she said police asked her to identify the suspects, who ended up under arrest right outside neighbor Nicole Smith's home.

"Whole bunch of police, a guy with a cane walking down the street; they threw his bag off and searched him and hauled him away."

Neighbors were glad to know that those responsible for recent break-ins were caught.
