RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have identified the man who was killed in the city's 50th homicide that was reported outside a Dollar General store on Walmsley Boulevard in South Richmond Friday morning.

Police were called to the store's parking lot at about 8:05 a.m. when someone saw 48-year-old Ronald A. Holder of Henrico slumped over in the driver's seat of a car parked in front of the store.

When police arrived, officers determined that he had died from a gunshot wound.

The store was not yet open and police are working to figure out why the car was outside the store.

An emotional neighbor said that she worked with Holder for several months at Dollar General.

Several neighbors confirmed he worked at the location and was starting his shift for the day.

"He was a very nice guy, very helpful," said one man who frequents the store.

The Dollar General is located along the 3900 block of Walmsley Boulevard, near Hopkins Road.

Police are hoping to get surveillance video from the store to help with the investigation. They also spent hours canvassing the area and talking to neighbors.

Police don't have any information on a suspect yet.

They're asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers At 804-780-1000 or the Richmond Police Department
