‘Rent the Runway’ package creates bomb scare at Richmond 7-11

RICHMOND, Va. — A suspicious package briefly closed the area around the 2000 block of W. Broad Street. Just after 11 a.m., a suspicious package was spotted inside a UPS box,  at Meadow and Grace Streets.

The bomb squad rushed to the scene at the 7-11 which sits at Broad and Meadow.

There were street closures in place as the bomb squad investigated.

  • Meadow/Grace closed to eastbound traffic
  • Hermitage and Leigh Street closed to southbound traffic
  • From W. Broad is closed to Eastbound traffic starting at Allison Street

Officials determined that a Rent the Runway dress was in the box.

Rent the Runway is an online service launched years ago, that provides designer dress and accessory rentals. After a customer is shipped the dress after placing an order online and they return it after use, via mail.

The scene was clear by 12:30 p.m., Monday.
