RICHMOND, Va. -- A cold front that passed through Virginia early Sunday morning is ushering in a dose of much cooler weather for the first part of this week.

Daytime highs into Tuesday will be in the mid 60s.  Morning lows Monday and Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 40s for the metro, with some colder readings north and west.  On Tuesday morning, some isolated upper 30s will be possible in our colder outlying areas.

The last time we experienced highs and lows this cool was in late May, almost five full months ago.  Our low temperatures have been running above normal for a while.  The normal low for this week is around 50°, so temperatures in the mid 40s are not too far below normal.

Slightly warmer weather will build back into the area Wednesday and Thursday.  Another cold front will push through on Thursday, and this will bring highs in the 60s back for Friday, and lows in the 40s for Friday night into Saturday morning.
